Piston/ Rod needed
---Needed (1) piston + connecting rod----
Bad piston is 76.98 "Brazil"/ rod bearings are standard I will buy a new ring set on own. Hello- Finished disassembly of a 1982 NA D24 w/ 1 bad cylinder (low compression) and discovered a bent connecting rod. Puzzling since there seems to be no 'broken timing belt'-type damage to rest of engine. Cyl wall seems OK. Nothing evident on crank. No loose parts in oil pan, etc. Base of piston is scored and slightly chipped on its lower edge in places. Need to check and measure the cylinder bores but initial inspection shows nothing adverse. Will check out w/a dial bore gauge soon. Noticed an invoice in glove box- it showed: 3/25/94 for the purchase of (1) piston (#068 107 081/ .50 DSL ) for $70 from Scooter's Foreign Performance in Kent, WA.. A head gasket was purchased the same day from a NAPA store in Eatonville. Most recent invoice was 2001 or so. This vehicle sat for at least 10 years (prior to my recent purchase) in the 'back 40' of an Orting farm. I towed it home and garage started it. Compression check verified a bad cylinder. Other 5 not too shabby. IP set at about .95-.98 advance Estimate 50 k since above repair made. Engine was probably rebuilt at sometime w/ the oversize pistons, right? Head gasket looked pretty good. Anyone have the above parts? Note: The donor vehicle was untitled. I plan to part it out. Interior is dark blue w/ suede seats and side panels/ elec. windows and is in pretty good condition. Body is straight. Topside paint is faded/ sides gloss a bit. No engine, of course, etc. Send PM re any of above.
