'83 740 wagon

hi all, still searching for that elusive project...
found an '83 740 diesel wagon, no turbo of course, auto trans no overdrive, 180,000 kilometers. I know about the lower desirability of the non-turbo block and lack of overdrive will hurt fuel economy. Any other gotcha's? Is this a year with the flaky wiring?
