Default ALTERNATOR/ FAN belt snapped, length help ASAP

Well my lovely lady returned from night shift today and the fan belt has completely disintegrated. No part numbers left etc.

The local car stores think the car is a twin ribbed belt which it is not.

Its a 93 onwards d24tic with air con (940)

I have measured the distance needed and at minimum size the belt seems to be 80cm roughly.

Does this seem right as i have had to just order a 800mm v belt and hope its right? I was meant to start a new job today and had to phone in...Isnt life great at times

Thanks
Mick

All sorted

For future record the standard belt is 1150mm and 10mm wide

Glad to hear it worked out and thanks for the update and reference info.

Good thing you figured it out as most of us here with the older US cars and the different accessory arrangement probably would have had no idea what belt would fit.

Hope it didn't slow you down on a new gig!

Yeah no kidding. For example the greenbook (for US D24T) gives HC 38 x750 for the alternator belt. I must have translated that at one time because I penciled in 8.5mm width at the widest part of the Vee, and 8mm height of the Vee. Guessing the diameter is 750mm?

To update this further the 10mm belts are a option but the original is nearer tp 12 or 13mm in width. A 10 works but does not have the life of thicker belt apparently.

This is most likely why alot of people report squeaky belts on d24's as the belt will be 10mm

Another forum member has given me the part number from a uk site that do the alternator belts for a reasonable price.

The part number is XPA1132

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174567463...sAAOSw5EdbH5mU

UK ebay link

Usa link

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121951758...Cclp%3A2334524

ACCORDING TO UK site simply bearings this belt is 1150 long so should be the right one

I agree with the comments on the 10mm belts squealing. After replacing my belts which were 10mm for both the power steering and alternator, I keep having to re-adjust the belts due to squealing. The originals were wider ...should have known

The green book says HC 47x1175 Alt HC38x1013 PAS which is double Dutch to me (removed the aircon system)

Anyone know how these numbers relate ?? .....thanks for the alternator number

I thought I knew at one time what those numbers meant but now have no clue?

Maybe Swedish terminology?

Nor me, there is a calculation to work it out.

However, I ordered two belts with ukvolvo's ebay link and cross referenced the length with simply bearings

ebay link belt numbers

Alternator XPA1132 .....1150mm

PAS XPA1000 .......1017mm

Will have to wait and see if they fit ......fingers crossed
