Default Studs for head 1G

Good day,
Just getting my head gasket replaced at a shop with a mechanic that seems very skilled.
He insists that even though the head bolts are the new type, that the head must be retorqued after 1000 km.
I believe he said some thing about the head gasket compressing somewhat.

My other mechanic says that VW doesn’t recommend Retorquing with the new head bolts.

Both mechanics strike me as very professional and knowledgeable,
Is there anything to this idea that the head gasket compresses a little bit?
Trying to figure out what I’m missing here.

What is peoples experience with this?
Any recommendations?

Depends on the head gasket material. MLS or fiber?
