Default 740 td oil pan gasket change

I need to replace my oil pan gasket, it is leaking in more than place, and leaks also where the turbo oil cooler line ties in. I don't have really have a way to pull the engine. Is there a way I can just drop the cross member and get the pan off? I know this was discussed on here before, but I can't find the thread, and I just need to get it done this weekend. thanks, Bill in AZ

You will have to get the pan down pretty far, and dont forget the 2 short bolts up behind the flywheel.

Hi,

I found this thread using the search function…
I'll have to change my gasket as well, do I need to remove the gearbox or how can I remove the screws behind the flywheel?
That would be really annoying…

You can access the bolts with some socket extensions.

Thank god! That makes me very happy.

Than it should be enough to lift the engine, remove the crossmember and change the oil pan.

Thank you very much for this information! You saved my day.
