New ones are available, and these do wear out. Might be easier and better to just buy a new one than put another old one in?

I got a new one with the "tropical" part number, an original equipment Aisin part, a couple years ago and it was no problem to find and not expensive. I'll see if I still have the part number somewhere. The basic dimensions of the viscous fan clutch are the same for the 4cyl gassers and diesels, only the V6 gas engines had a different design, so if you are in a bind and the 4cyl cars are more common to find parts from, you could use one of those. The engagement temperatures for the diesels and gassers are slightly different but IIRC the tropical clutch is the same for both setups.
