Who is your guy? What are his credentials? At lower ambient temperatures (I think that describes your environment?) I would run 5w-30 full synthetic current spec. diesel motor oil no worries.

5 w 30 fully synthetic oil

thank you for your valued comment NGOMA there was a past comment on here that 5 W 40 fully synthetic oil is the ideal oil but there as you say 5 W 30 in the uk climate is acceptable .so the general view here is i will be ok with 5W 30 in my 1995 D24 . and see how i feel i wonder how many different types off oil is used
by you guys in our D24s ?

Full synthetic here, have used various weights: 5w-30, 5w-40, 10w-40, 15w-40?

Here is a photo of what I currently have in the garage. As I am on a tight budget (trying to get a kid thru college) I tend to buy whatever full syn is on sale. Most recently that seems to be Rotella T6.

Sheer folly to try to compare modern full synthetic motor oil to the oil that was available in the last century. Evolution happened. I have used 5w-30 (maybe it was 0w-30?) in the past. That photo was just what I found in the garage yesterday.
