MLS headgasket availability?

I just lost the headgasket in my '86 745, need to order a replacement and wondering what the latest status is on getting MLS gaskets in the US. Last I heard, Volvo had switched back to supplying fiber gaskets and was no longer a source for metal ones. I see on RockAuto they list a metal gasket, available with 1, 2, or 3 holes for a very reasonable price, and the application lists for those gaskets are correct, but the picture for the MLS appears to be for a European V6 TDI. Brand is listed as PAYEN. Has anyone tried ordering one of these or know about this brand? For $50 I am tempted to try one and see what shows up.

Thanks.

George

Hi there,

Sorry for delayed reply.

Hi I can confirm that this is a MLS and not the fibre type gasket.

This gasket (632.221) is 1.53mm @ £45.00, however we do offer a thicker one(632.241) @ £48.00

We can ship to that address for £42 on a 2-4 day service.

Please do not hesitate to ask any other questions.

Kind Regards,

Matt @ OEM Parts UK
CRP tell me they can get Ajusa brand with a min order of 25, and takes ~90 days.

I used an Ajusa on mine - think it was only about £30 from enginepartsuk. Probably not much help to you in the US though!
